چکیده

Abstract. Relationships among average spectral re ectance measured in the visible and near infrared (VNIR) region (0.4–2.5mm), dielectric constantmeasured in the microwave region (0.5–18GHz) and chemical content of 34 sedimentary rock samples were measured. The natural logarithm of the average spectral re ectance and that of the imaginary part of the dielectric constantwere negatively correlated (r= 0.60). The average spectral re ectance correlated negatively with 23 (r= 0.61), 23 (r= 0.63), 2 (r= 0.60), 2 (r= 0.64), and 25 (r= 0.60). The average imaginary part of the dielectric constant correlated positively with 23 (r=0.76), 2 (r=0.62), and 2 (r=0.70). The average real part of the dielectric constant is highly correlated with the weight loss of the rocks due to burning (burnt loss) (r=0.92), 2 (r= 0.96), and CaO (r=0.91).

Anisotropic Reflectance Correction of SPOT-3 HRV Imagery

The problem of anisotropic reflectance in mountainous terrain is well known. It was required to determine the efficacy of anisotropic reflectance correction (ARC) of imagery acquired over the western Himalaya. The Minnaert correction procedure was evaluated using a single Minnaert constant (k), locally computed ks and land cover-computed ks. Findings illustrate the need for computing ks, such t...

Optical and Dielectric studies in zirconium(IV) tungstate nanoparticles prepared by chemical coprecipitation method

Nanoparticles of zirconium(IV) tungstate are prepared by chemical co-precipitation method. Thecharacterizations have been carried out by TG/DTA, DSC, AFM, XRD, FTIR and UV-Vis spectrum. PLspectrum shows two emission bands at 350 nm and at 477 nm. The effects of frequency on the dielectricbehavior and ac electrical conductivity have been studied. The dielectric constant is found to be 119.43 at1...

Sorting out Compositional Trends in Sedimentary Rocks of the Bradbury Group (Aeolus Palus), Gale Crater, Mars

Sedimentary rocks are composed of detrital grains derived from source rocks, which are altered by chemical weathering, sorted during transport, and cemented during diagenesis. Fluvio-lacustrine sedimentary rocks of the Bradbury group, observed on the floor of Gale crater by the Curiosity rover during its first 860 sols, show trends in bulk chemistry that are consistent with sorting of mineral g...

Sedimentation and Sedimentary Rocks

Sedimentary rocks are one component of the modern threefold classification of rocks. They derive from the lithification of sediments, which are produced in basically two ways: by the mechanical deposition of grains derived from the alteration of other rocks (detrital or clastic rocks), or as chemical precipitates or grains formed organically or inorganically from an aqueous solution. The whole ...
